Checking your JES email account with Outlook Express 6
1) Click on Set up a Mail Account....
2) Select Create a new Internet mail account. Then click Next.
3) Type in your name, then click Next.
4) Type in your email address. For email address, you should use your FSUID@fsu.edu (where FSUID is replaced with your real FSUID. Your FSUID is the username you use to login to OMNI with,
and it may not be the same as your username on the ucs.fsu.edu server. Then click Next.
While your old @ucs.fsu.edu (and @acns.fsu.edu) email addresses will continue to work for some time, your FSU
ID@fsu.edu is your official FSU email address.
5) Select IMAP from the server dropdown box.
Use imap.fsu.edu as your incoming mail server.
Use smtp.fsu.edu as your outgoing mail server.
Then click Next.
6) Your FSUID username should already appear in the Account Name box.
Type in your FSUID password into the password box, ONLY if you want
your password to be saved on the computer you are setting up.
Then click Next.
7) Now click Finish
8) There are still two settings that do not get set with the Account Wizard. So, click on the Tools menu and then click Accounts...
9) Make sure you are on the Mail tab.
Highlight the account you just created (named imap.fsu.edu by default)
and click on Properties.
10) Click on the Servers tab.
In the Outgoing Mail Server section, check the box next to My server requires authentication. Then click on Settings....
11) Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server and everything else will be greyed out.
Now click on OK.
12) Now click on the Advanced tab.
Check both of the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) boxes.
Now click on OK.
13) Finally, click on Close.
If you are unable to login the first time, make sure you are using your FSUID password (same password you use for OMNI). If you do not know your FSUID password,
you can reset it on the FSUID website.
