Checking your JES email account with Thunderbird 1.5

1) Click on Create a new account.

2) You are setting up an Email account which is the default, so just click Next.

3) Type in your name and email address. For email address, you should use your FSUID@fsu.edu (where FSUID is replaced with your real FSUID. Your FSUID is the username you use to login to OMNI with, and it may not be the same as your username on the ucs.fsu.edu server. Then click Next.

4) Select IMAP. And use imap.fsu.edu as your incoming server name. Then click Next.

5) Your FSUID username should already appear in the Incoming User Name box, so you just need to click Next.

If your FSUID username or password are different from your UCS username or password, then you will need to use your FSUID username and password to check your mail with JES.

6) Your FSUID@fsu.edu should already appear in the Account Name box, so you just need to click Next.

7) Double check everything and click Finish.

8) There is still one setting that does not get set with the Account Wizard. So, click on the Tools menu and then click Account Settings....

9) In the FSUID@fsu.edu account, click on Server Settings.

In the Security Settings box, select SSL.

10) Still in the Account Settings, click on Outgoung Server (SMTP)

If you already used Thunderbird before setting up your JES account, then you probably just need to Edit your existing SMTP server. If this is your first time using Thunderbird then you will need to Add a new SMTP server.

11) Use smtp.fsu.edu as your Server Name.
Use your FSUID as your User Name.
And select TLS for your secure connection setting.
Now click OK.

12) And click OK again and you are done!

If you are unable to login the first time, make sure you are using your FSUID password (same password you use for OMNI). If you do not know your FSUID password, you can reset it on the FSUID website.
