Garnet/Mailer Website Information

WHERE'S MY GARNET ACCOUNT STUFF?

----------------------------------------------------

~ PLEASE NOTE: THIS WILL NOT AFFECT EMAIL IN ANY WAY!! ~

----------------------------------------------------

Please contact the FSU Technology Services Help Desk at (850) 644-HELP (4357) or email help@fsu.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

1) I had a garnet account, but I never had a mailer account

------------------------------------------------------------

During the move, all of the files from your garnet account will be moved, intact, to the mailer server.

- You can SSH onto mailer.fsu.edu with your previous garnet login username and password.

The move of your files to the server, mailer.fsu.edu, should be almost transparent. Some things that might appear differently after login are:

- The prompt after login could read
mailer#

- If you had a website on garnet, your website URL will still be accessible at
http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~GARNET_USERNAME
It will be redirected to
http://mailer.fsu.edu/~GARNET_USERNAME

We encourage you to utilize the new facility myweb.fsu.edu to consolidate your FSU personal websites. See http://helpdesk.fsu.edu/mywebdav.html for more info.

2) I had a garnet account, and I already had (1 or more) mailer account(s)

-------------------------------------------------------------

During the move, all of the files from your garnet account will be moved, intact, to the mailer server.

Since you already have an account on the mailer.fsu.edu server, you should now log into your mailer account ( MAILER_USERNAME ) to manage your garnet files as well as your mailer files. If you had more than one mailer account, your garnet files were placed in the mailer account that matches the garnet username.

Your garnet account files will be placed in your mailer account into a directory called
/garnet-GARNET_USERNAME

- If you had a website on garnet, your garnet website URL will still be accessible at
http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~GARNET_USERNAME/
It will be redirected to
http://mailer.fsu.edu/~MAILER_USERNAME/garnet-GARNET_USERNAME/

Note, your public_html folder from the previous garnet account will be found in the
/garnet-GARNET_USERNAME directory
on your mailer account. Changes to your garnet website content should be made there.

We encourage you to utilize the new facility myweb.fsu.edu to consolidate your FSU personal websites. See http://helpdesk.fsu.edu/mywebdav.html for more info.

3) I had (1 or more) garnet account(s), and I already had a mailer account

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the move, all of the files from your garnet account will be moved, intact, to the mailer server.

Since you already have an account on the mailer.fsu.edu server, you should now log into your mailer account ( my_mailer_acct ) to manage your garnet files as well as your mailer files.

Your garnet account files will be placed in your mailer account into directories called /garnet-sample1 /garnet-sample2

- If you had websites on garnet, your garnet website URL will still be accessible at
http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~sample1/
http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~sample2/
They will be redirected to
http://mailer.fsu.edu/~my_mailer_acct/garnet-sample1/
http://mailer.fsu.edu/~my_mailer_acct/garnet-sample2/

Note, your public_html folders from the previous garnet accounts will be found in the /garnet-sample1 and /garnet-sample2 directories on your mailer account. Changes to your garnet websites content should be made there.
