The Server -- Unix,
sFTP and more
You
may have created the greatest webpages ever written but no one's going
to know about it if they exist only on your desktop computer. Garnet and
Mailer are running software that makes the files you store on them available
to the World Wide Web. The environment that the web server runs on is
an operating system called UNIX. The way that you transport your
files from your desktop onto the server is called sFTP (secured
file transfer protocol). See also Secure
